Tour Highlights

Cruising the Geirangerfjord

One of the many highlights of this tour is the Fjord cruise on the famous Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO listed World Heritage Site, and Norway's most beautiful fjord. Along the fjord, there are a number of abandoned mountain farms and impressive waterfalls, including the Seven Sisters and the Suitor. If you look up towards the towering mountains surrounding the fjord, you will see mountain farms clinging to the cliffs. It's hard to believe that people actually lived there not too long ago! Enjoy a cup of coffee or maybe even a waffle, as the boat slides slowly past the magnificent landscapes between the charming coastal town of Ålesund and the idyllic Geiranger.

The spectacular Trollstigen road

The Trollstigen road is a spectacular mountain road and one of Norway's most popular National Scenic Routes. You travel by bus between Geiranger and Åndalsnes via Trollstigen road, and there are several installations and awe-inspiring viewpoints along the route. There will be a 40-minute photo stop at Trollstigen viewpoint and a 10-minute stop at Gudbrandsjuvet gorge. The bus trip is a comfortable and exciting experience where you can enjoy sensational views from your window.

The Art Nouveau City of Ålesund

Ålesund is a truly stunning town! Named Norway's most beautiful town by The Times, Ålesund is located on the western coast of Norway, where the mountains and fjords meet the Atlantic Ocean. The city is known for its Art Noveau architecture and wide selection of exciting activities. Here, you will find a variety of towers, spires, and buildings with beautiful decorations, and just taking a stroll through the city can be quite an adventure. Together with other gorgeous European cities such as Barcelona, Brussels, Vienna, Riga, and Glasgow, Ålesund is actually part of the exclusive Réseau Art Nouveau Network, a European network of Jugend-style cities.

Åndalsnes & Romsdalen

Åndalsnes is located by the Romsdalsfjord and surrounded by towering mountain peaks. A well-known landmark in Åndalsnes is the "Rampestreken" viewpoint. You can get to Rampestreken via the Romsdalstrappene and will be rewarded with a fantastic view over Åndalsnes at the top! Or, if you want to skip the hike, take the new Romsdalen Gondola to the top for equally epic views! Romsdalen has also been used as a backdrop for international blockbusters such as Harry Potter and Mission Impossible. According to Lonely Planet, you will find one of the world's most beautiful mountain hikes in Åndalsnes, the "Romsdalseggen Hike".

The Raumabanen Railway

Some of the route variations on this tour includes the Raumabanen Railway, one of Norway's most beautiful and wild stretches of railway. The train ride between Dombås and Åndalsnes gives you a unique opportunity to enjoy a journey through contrasting, wild and magnificent scenery. From the comfort of your seat, you can admire the impending and majestic Trollveggen (The Troll Wall), spectacular waterfalls at the Kylling Bridge, and the emerald green Rauma River.

The Dovre Railway

The Dovre Railway makes its way through some of Norway’s best national parks, mountains, and scenic attractions. The comfortable train ride takes you through the stunning Gudbrandsdalen valley and across the mighty Dovrefjell mountain range. This area is said to be the home of the mountain Troll King Dovregubben, known from both Ibsen's literature and Grieg's music. The train also runs along the Lågen river, with its turquoise meltwater from the mountain glaciers.

The Bergen Railway

The Bergen Railway is the 500-kilometer-long railway line between Bergen and Oslo. It has several times been named one of the world's best railway experiences.

The Bergen Railway is Northern Europe's highest stretch of railway and crosses both the Langfjellene mountains and the Hardangervidda mountain plateau, with Finse as the highest station at 1222 meters.

The Nærøyfjord

The Nærøyfjord is the narrowest and best-known of the many arms of the Sognefjord. Surrounded by towering mountains up to 1,700 meters high, this arm of the Sognefjord is amazingly beautiful. With its steep mountainsides, hanging valleys, towering peaks, waterfalls, and small hamlets, this fjord is perhaps the most outstanding natural attraction in Norway. The Nærøyfjord is 20 km long, only 250 meters across at its narrowest and a mere 12 meters at its shallowest. The surrounding mountains reach heights of 1,660 meters, and the fjord is one of the multiple highlights on several of our tours.
