Travel Route & Highlights

Oslo - Myrdal

The Bergen Railway: Your journey from Oslo starts by traveling on the Bergen Railway westwards to Myrdal. This is Northern Europe's highest stretch of railway and the line crosses the mighty Hardangervidda mountain plateau. The Bergen Railway has several times been named one of the world's best railway experiences.

Myrdal - Flåm

The Flåm Railway: Upon arrival in Myrdal, you change trains to the amazing Flåm Railway. The ride down to Flåm takes about 1 hour and the journey offers panoramic views of some of the wildest and most magnificent nature in the Norwegian fjord landscape. During the ride, there will be a short stop at the spectacular Kjosfossen Waterfall. The Flåm Railway also regularly features on lists of the world's best railway rides.

Flåm - Bergen

Express boat: From Flåm you travel comfortably by express boat on the impressive Sognefjord to Bergen. The Sognefjord is Norway’s longest and deepest fjord and is surrounded by exceptional natural beauty, high mountains, and roaring waterfalls. You can "hop off” along the way and spend a night in the beautiful fjord village of Balestrand to enjoy the scenery or join in on an exciting activity.

You arrive in bustling Bergen in the evening. The city is also known as the city between the 7 mountains and a minimum of one overnight stay is required here. Note that we highly recommend two overnight stays here. This will give you time to explore and get to know one of the country's most beautiful and historic cities!

Bergen - Rosendal

Express boat cruise: After one or more nights in Bergen, you are ready to continue your adventure by traveling by boat along the raw coastal scenery of Norway's West Coast.

You will be traveling in a comfortable, modern, and spacious vessel, and during the trip, you will have excellent views of the beautiful, untamed landscapes passing by. Enjoy the views from the inside lounge, or venture out on the large deck to take in the experience.

From Rosendal to Odda you travel on by bus. If you want, you can add time to explore Rosendal.

Odda - Ulvik - Eidfjord

Fjord cruise on the Hardangerfjord: The Hardangerfjord is truly a unique fjord. Here you will find villages nestled in tradition and heritage, living alongside innovative new industries such as fish farms and hydropower plants. The fjord cruise on the Hardangerfjord takes you through a landscape of idyllic orchards, lush fruit farms, and powerful glaciers. You stay overnight in the charming fjord village of Ulvik, beautifully situated by the fjord and a perfect place to enjoy splendid nature and local cultural experiences.

Eidfjord - Vøringsfossen waterfall

Sightseeing trip: After your overnight stay in Ulvik, you continue your tour from Eidfjord to perhaps the biggest (literally) highlight; the jaw-dropping Vøringsfossen Waterfall. This mighty waterfall has a drop of 182 meters and is flanked by several stunning lookout points. The lookout points are innovatively designed to let you feel the power of the cascading waters. And if you dare - you can even cross the waterfall on a bridge!

On your way to the Vøringsfossen waterfall, you stop by the Norwegian Nature Centre Hardanger. This is an exciting experience center for Norwegian nature, climate, and environment. It is also a great place to have a quick lunch break.

Vøringsfossen - Geilo

Bus ride crossing Hardangervidda: Hardangervidda is Norway's largest National Park, and the journey over the beautiful and untouched wilderness landscape is filled with contrast. The mountain plateau is located above the alpine tree line and has a distinctively alpine climate with reindeer herds among the largest in the world. The fjords, mountains, and marked trails make the Hardangervidda National Park a perfect place for the active nature lover.

Geilo - Oslo

Bergen Railway: After a journey filled with highlights and impressions, there is only one thing left to do:

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride back to Oslo.
