Experience two beautiful UNESCO-protected fjords on the amazing Sognefjord & Nærøyfjord in a nutshell with UNESCO fjord bus! The Nærøyfjord and Geirangerfjord spellbinds even the most seasoned travelers with steep mountainsides, hanging valleys, towering peaks and breathtaking waterfalls.

The Nærøyfjord and Geirangerfjord are considered to be two of the most outstanding natural attractions in all of Norway. Surrounded by towering mountains up to 1,700 metres high, the narrow Nærøyfjord is an amazingly beautiful experience.

The Geirangerfjord is widely know for its beauty and along the fjord you can see a number of abandoned farms clinging to the steep hillsides and several impressive waterfalls. The two most notable waterfalls in the Geirangerfjord are ‘de Syv Søstre’ (the seven sisters) and ‘Friaren’ (the suitor, also called the wooer). 

On this tour you get to experience these two amazing UNESCO fjords with a fjord cruise on the Nærøyfjord, while the UNESCO Fjord Bus will take you to Geiranger and the Geirangerfjord. You will also experience a fjord cruise on the mighty Sognefjord in yet another area considered to be among the most beautiful travel destinations in the world.

On the UNESCO Fjord bus tour from Sogndal to Geiranger you travel through the Nordfjord region with some of the world’s most spectacular landscapes. Upon arrival in Geiranger you have time to do an activity, stay overnight or simply enjoy the stunning nature of the area.

On top of all of this, you will also travel on the spectacular Bergen Railway and during the bus trip from Voss to Gudvangen you ride down the steep and thrilling hair-pin bends of Stalheimskleiva! 

You can start your trip from Oslo or Bergen and the tour requires overnight stays along the way. 

Travel tip

We highly recommend that you take your time during the tour, by adding an exciting activity or staying over in beautiful destinations such as Geiranger, Balestrand, Olden or Loen.

Transfer points on the Sognefjord & Nærøyfjord in a nutshell with UNESCO fjord bus

Bergen: The train departs from Bergen railway station. 
The express boat arrive Strandkaiterminalen. The terminal is situated next to the Fish Market and approx. 10 min. walk from Bergen railway station.

Voss: Change from train to bus or vice versa. The bus to Gudvangen departs at Voss Railway Station. The bus is located outside the railway station. Please look for the bus with sign for Gudvangen.

Gudvangen: Change from bus to boat. The bus park next to the harbour and connect with the tourist boat/fjord boat. Please look for the boat with sign for Kaupanger at the harbour.

Kaupanger:  Change from boat to bus. The bus for Sogndal departs from the fjord cruise boat quay.

Sogndal: Change from bus to bus at Sogndal bus terminal. The buses are located close to one another at the terminal. The UNESCO Fjord Bus is clearly marked and easy to find.
Change from bus to bus to Leikanger.

Leikanger: Change from express boat to bus or vice versa. The bus stops next to the express boat quay, right at the harbour.

Oslo: The trains for all our trips departs from the Oslo Central Railway Station (Oslo S).

Note: Not all transfer points are included on all tours. This depends on the tour alternative that you choose. You will of course receive a booking confirmation from us with a detailed itinerary for the tour you have selected. 

Are the tours guided?

No, there is no guide on our tours. You travel on your own by following the travel itinerary. On the tours including Norway in a nutshell®, you will also receive a "Norway in a nutshell® - Travelers Guide" booklet.

The connections and transfer points are all within close proximity of each other for easy transfer. Stops are always announced over the speakers.
