Hjørundfjord & Norway in a nutshell® tour from Bergen
You start your trip from Bergen, embarking on an overnight Hurtigruten coastal cruise to the Art Nouveau city of Ålesund. After a short break in Ålesund, the ship continues with a fjord cruise on the Hjørundfjord. The fjord cuts into the mountain range called the "Sunnmøre Alps" and is flanked by tall mountains, glaciers, alpine farms and small villages.
Once in Hjørundfjorden, a tender boat will take you from Hurtigruten to the tiny village Urke, beautifully located on the fjord, with the impressive "Sunnmøre Alps" in the background. From Urke, a sightseeing trip by bus is done in the nearby area. You will among other things, see what is often referred to as Norway’s narrowest valley - the Norangsdalen. After the sightseeing trip, you embark the Hurtigruten ship again and return to Ålesund where an overnight stay is required.
The next leg of the trip takes you by bus to Åndalsnes, where you board the Raumabanen Railway. This railway stretch is often referred to as the most beautiful in Norway and takes you past highlights such as the impressive Trollveggen Cliff and over the the Kylling bridge. From Dombås you travel on the Dovrebanen Railway through valley and mountain regions to Oslo, where an overnight stay is required.
From Oslo you set out on the popular Norway in a nutshell® tour, making your way through some of Norway's most beautiful fjord scenery. You will experience the breathtaking Flåm Railway, the Aurlandsfjord and the narrow Nærøyfjord on a fjord cruise, as well as the scenic Bergen Railway, before arriving back at your starting point in Bergen.
