Hardangerfjord in a nutshell tour from Bergen
On the Hardangerfjord in a nutshell round trip, you will experience a journey through a landscape of majestic mountains, roaring waterfalls and idyllic orchards.
The Hardangerfjord in a nutshell tour from Bergen can be taken as a round trip with return to Bergen, or as a one-way trip to Oslo. You can extend your tour by adding hotels and activities in the Hardangerfjord region or along the route, or take the tour in one day. The 179 km. long Hardangerfjord is packed with cultural and natural gems and offers scenery that will spellbind even the most seasoned traveller.
The round trip from Bergen starts by taking the scenic Bergen Railway to Voss. From Voss you continue by bus to the charming village of Ulvik. On this leg of the trip you will pass the cascading Steinsdalsfossen waterfall. If you’re lucky enough to be in Ulvik in May, you will see the fruit trees in full blossom!
From Ulvik you embark on a beautiful boat trip on the Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord. Once in Eidfjord, you will experience a sightseeing trip to Vøringsfossen waterfall (Norway’s biggest waterfall) and Hardangervidda Nature Centre. You leave Eidfjord by taking a fjord cruise to Norheimsund, where a bus will be waiting to take you back to Bergen.
You can also start the round trip by bus and travel in the opposite direction. On the one-way trip to Oslo you start your tour by bus and continue on from Voss to Oslo on the scenic Bergen Railway.
