Hardangerfjord in a nutshell & Rosendal from Oslo

On this tour you will see and experience the magnificent Norwegian coast and scenery of the inner reaches of the Hardangerfjord.

On this tour you will experience a varied scenery with lush fruit frams, high mountains, glaciers and impressive waterfalls! You can take this tour from Oslo as a roundtrip with return to Oslo. You travel by fjord cruise, railway and bus, and the tour from Oslo requires a minimum two overnight stay en route.

You start your journey from Oslo traveling on the scenic Bergen railway to Bergen where an overnight stay is required. You continue from Bergen embarking on a costal express cruise to beautiful Rosendal in the Hardangerfjord. This little village is surrounded by majestic mountains and Norway's only Barony (built in the 17th century) is located here. 

The tour continues with a scenic bus trip through the Hardangerfjord to the fjord villages of Odda and Lofthus. An overnight stay in either Odda or Lofthus is required.

From Lofthus you will travel by fjord express boat on the Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord and Ulvik. The scenery along the Hardangerfjord offers a landscape of beautiful fruit communities, mountains and glaciers. Once in Eidfjord, you disembak the boat and join a sightseeing trip by bus to the spectacular Vøringsfossen waterfall and the Norwegian Nature Centre Hardanger.

Upon return to Eidfjord you embark on the boat that will take you Ulvik where a bus to Voss will be waiting for you. From Voss you travel on the Bergen railway back to your starting point in Oslo.

Travel tip

Combine this tour with a hiking trip to Trolltunga in Odda! The hiking trip takes about 8 hours and is an impressive and somewhat challenging trip. Transfer points on the Hardangerfjord in a nutshell trip & Rosendal

Bergen: The express boat departs from the Strandkaien in Bergen (boat terminal) and is signed for Rosendal, a 10-15 min. walk from Bergen station.

Rosendal: Transfer from express boat to bus to Odda. The express boat arrives and the bus departs from the quay.

Odda: Bus departs from Odda bus terminal to Lofthus. The bus from Odda to Lofthus is marked with "Eidfjord". 

Lofthus: Change form bus to Express boat from Lofthus harbour to Eidfjord.

Eidfjord: Change from boat to sightseeingbus and vice versa. The bus departs from the quai, just beside the fjordboat.

Ulvik: Change from boat to bus. The bus stops next to the express boat at the harbour.

Voss: Change from bus to train. The bus from Ulvik arrives just outside Voss Station.

Oslo: The train arrives/departs from Oslo Central Station.

Note: Not all transfer points are included on all tours. This depends on the tour alternative that you choose. You will of course receive a booking confirmation from us with a detailed itinerary for the tour you have selected.

Is possible to go to Trolltunga on the Hardangerfjord in a nutshell & Rosendal trip?

Yes, but then you must stop over 2 nights on the trip, in Lofthus or Odda. You can book the Trolltunga hiking trip separately HERE.

Are the tours guided?

No, there is no guide on our tours. You travel on your own by following the travel itinerary. On the tours including Norway in a nutshell®, you will also receive a "Norway in a nutshell® - Travelers Guide" booklet.

The connections and transfer points are all within close proximity of each other for easy transfer. Stops are always announced over the speakers.
