The Hardangerfjord in a nutshell tour from Bergen can be taken as a round trip with return to Bergen, or as a one-way trip to Oslo. You can extend your tour by adding hotels and activities in the Hardangerfjord region or along the route, or take the tour in one day. The 179 km. long Hardangerfjord is packed with cultural and natural gems and offers scenery that will spellbind even the most seasoned traveller.

The round trip from Bergen starts by taking the scenic Bergen Railway to Voss. From Voss you continue by bus to the charming village of Ulvik. On this leg of the trip you will pass the cascading Steinsdalsfossen waterfall. If you’re lucky enough to be in Ulvik in May, you will see the fruit trees in full blossom!

From Ulvik you embark on a beautiful boat trip on the Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord. Once in Eidfjord, you will experience a sightseeing trip to one of Norway’s largest and most famous waterfalls, Vøringsfossen, as well as a visit to the Norwegian Nature Centre in HardangerYou leave Eidfjord by taking a fjord cruise to Norheimsund, where a bus will be waiting to take you back to Bergen.

You can also start the round trip by bus and travel in the opposite direction. On the one-way trip to Oslo you start your tour by bus and continue on from Voss to Oslo on the scenic Bergen Railway.

Whatever option you choose, we recommend that you add overnight stays to your tour. That way you can take your time to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery, and maybe even take part in some exciting activities!

Transfer points on the Hardangerfjord in a nutshell trip

Start by train: The train departs from Bergen railway station.

Start by bus: The bus departs from the express bus terminal, field O and is signed for Norheimsund. Approx. 5 min. walk from the train station.

Voss: Change from train to bus or vice versa. The bus to/from Ulvik arrives/departs at Voss Railway Station. The bus is located outside the railway station. Please look for bus with sign for Voss-Ulvik.

Norheimsund: Change from boat to bus or vice versa. The bus stops at the harbour next to the express boat.

Eidfjord:Change from boat to sightseeingbus and vice versa. The bus departs from the quai, just beside the fjordboat.

Ulvik: Change from bus to boat or vice versa. The bus stops next to the express boat at the harbour, approx. 2 min.

Oslo: The trains for all our trips departs from the Oslo Central Railway Station (Oslo S).

Note: Not all transfer points are included on all tours. This depends on the tour alternative that you choose. You will of course receive a booking confirmation from us with a detailed itinerary for the tour you have selected.

Are the tours guided?

No, there is no guide on our tours. You travel on your own by following the travel itinerary.

The tours have been organized so everyone should reach each connection. The connections and transfer points are all within close proximity of each other for easy transfer. Stops are always announced over the speakers.
