Winter Travel Details
You travel by fjord cruise, bus and railway through a magical winter landscape. If you start from Bergen, the tour can be taken in one day, although we highly recommend adding an overnight stay along your route. If you start from Oslo, two overnight stays are required.
The Hardangerfjord in a nutshell Winter tour includes a journey on the coastal express boat from Bergen to beautiful Rosendal in the Hardangerfjord. During winter the coastline and fjords are serene, magical and spectacular. You continue by bus from Rosendal and explore the beautiful Hardangerfjord region towards Odda, Lofthus and Eidfjord.

Vøringsfossen Waterfall and Snowshoe Hike
Once in Eidfjord, exciting winter experiences awaits! In Eidfjord you will meet a guide and receive clothing for fun the winter activities. Together with your guide you travel to Vøringsfossen waterfall where you will get excellent views of the magnificent waterfall. You will learn more about the waterfall and get some insight into the local history and culture. During winter this large waterfall is often frozen, which is truly a special sight!
You will also be able to try out snowshoes, snow sledding or other Norwegian winter activities. A lavvu and bonfire is also in place to ensure warmth and comfort, in case the weather is bad. Local warm food and drinks will be served inside the lavvu.
A stay in Eidfjord - Local Food Introduction and History Lesson
After a long and eventful winter day, an overnight stay in Eidfjord is highly recommended, and frankly well deserved. The village offers the opportunity to sample local food in the most natural setting possible.
Enjoy a good nights sleep followed by a hearty breakfast, so that you're ready for to explore Eidfjord. A visit to the Norwegian Nature Centre is highly recommendable and you can add on this attraction to your tour. There is bus transport available between Eidfjord and the Nature center during the winter season.
After your stay in Eidfjord, a bus will take you to Voss, where you continue your tour by traveling on the scenic Bergen Railway to Bergen or to Oslo.
